Siaba Island: Snorkeling and Diving Paradise in Komodo National Park

It is one of the amazing marine tourism destinations in the Komodo National Park area, East Nusa Tenggara. This island is known as a paradise for divers and snorkeling enthusiasts thanks to its extraordinary underwater beauty, with healthy coral reefs and a variety of marine life that inhabit its waters.

The Beauty and Uniqueness

Heaven for Divers and Snorkelers

Siaba Island is famous for its two main diving areas, namely Siaba Besar and Siaba Kecil. Both locations offer different but equally amazing underwater experiences:

  • Siaba Besar is often referred to as “Turtle City” because of the many green turtles that roam its waters. This location is suitable for beginner to advanced divers because the currents are relatively calm.
  • Siaba Kecil offers more diverse coral reefs and more dynamic marine life, suitable for experienced divers who want to explore deeper depths.

Underwater Biodiversity

Siaba Island is home to various types of marine life, including:

  • Green turtles and hawksbill turtles that are often seen swimming or resting on the seabed.
  • Reef sharks, stingrays, and large napoleon fish.
  • Various species of reef fish such as clownfish, eagle rays, and schools of barracuda.
  • Macro creatures such as nudibranchs, mantis shrimp, and seahorses that are an attraction for underwater photographers.

Amazing Coral Reefs

The coral reefs around Siaba Island are very healthy and colorful. Soft and hard corals thrive on the seabed, creating a beautiful and life-filled underwater landscape. In addition, ocean currents that bring nutrients make the ecosystem in this area very productive.

Things to Do

  • Scuba Diving: Siaba Island is a great location for divers, both beginners and professionals. Its varying currents allow for a variety of diving levels, from easy dives to more challenging drift dives.
  • Snorkeling: For non-divers, snorkeling around Siaba Island still offers an amazing experience. With clear, shallow water, snorkelers can easily spot turtles swimming among the coral reefs.

Underwater Photography

The underwater beauty of the island makes it an ideal place for underwater photographers. From colorful coral reef landscapes to unique marine life, every dive provides an opportunity to capture spectacular moments.
